Chris Reindel, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Santen since April 2022, manages overall growth and profitability from a global perspective by implementing strategies addressing market access, marketing, commercial excellence, and other aspects of business strategy across all areas of ophthalmology, ultimately to advance Santen’s mission of building a world in which Happiness with Vision is available to everyone.

Previously, Chris was Senior Vice President (SVP), Finance – International from 2019, responsible for strategies and critical business-transformation projects alongside Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He also managed Finance teams outside of Japan and established the International Financial headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland to manage global funding and tax strategies.

Between 2012 and 2018, Chris held other leadership positions for Santen, including CFO of the North America and EMEA regions. As the EMEA CFO, in addition to establishing new businesses in several markets, he worked closely with Santen’s current President and CEO Taniuchi to integrate an acquisition with an existing commercial business for increased growth, profitability and presence.

Prior to joining Santen in 2012, Chris was Head of Finance at Gilead Sciences and responsible for commercial business in the Americas from 2009, before which he served as Head of Finance supporting R&D business for Genentech from 2005, both roles based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Earlier, he worked for several years in mergers and acquisitions, both in Europe and Silicon Valley, advising corporate, private-equity and venture-capital clients on corporate transactions.

Chris earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in business from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW).
