Building on our deep expertise in ophthalmology, we strive to deliver value by addressing the unmet needs of patients and the ophthalmic healthcare community through our products and services. Our product portfolio comprises more than 70 products, covering a broad range of ophthalmic diseases, and is currently available in over 60 countries and regions.
Founded in Osaka in 1890, Santen launched its first eye drop product "Daigaku Eye Drops" in 1899. At the time, many people in Japan suffered from eye diseases, and the product quickly gained widespread acceptance across the country.
In the 1950s, Santen entered the prescription pharmaceutical business and has since contributed to improving patients’ eye health through the expansion of its product lineup. From the 1990s onward, the Company accelerated its global expansion, strengthening its manufacturing and sales operations in Asia and Europe, and has steadily continued to grow its business in overseas markets.
