Santen Launches Global Employee Volunteer Initiative on World Sight Day
— Responding to 167 Calls from Visually Impaired Individuals in 26 Languages via the Be My Eyes App —

October 14, 2025, -　Osaka, Japan – Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter Santen) announced today that it conducted a global simultaneous volunteer activity on October 9, World Sight Day^*, using a video application for the visually impaired provided by Be My Eyes. This initiative involved Santen employees worldwide responding to video calls from visually impaired users via the app and providing visual assistance from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM (local time) on October 9. Santen employees in approximately 26 countries and regions handled 167 calls in 40 languages, helping to resolve challenges faced by people with visual impairments.

Santen is the first Japanese company to form a corporate volunteer partnership with Be My Eyes; World Sight Day 2025 marks the third year of the initiative. Gurveer Cheema, a key account manager of Santen UK Ltd. who has participated in this initiative since it was launched in 2023, commented: “Being involved with the initiative has really been amazing as it has provided an insight into what it is like to live each day with vision problems. Santen truly lives and demonstrates its values by supporting such programs.”
