May 30, 2025, Osaka, Japan – Santen is proud to stand alongside 13 leading organizations – including the International Association for the Prevention of Blindness, World Organization of the Scout Movement, and the European Parents’ Association, and signing a new Joint Policy Statement on Children’s Eye Health.
The Joint Statement Title:
Adapting to the Digital and Sedentary World:
Addressing the Growing Crisis of Children’s Eye Health – The Case of Myopia
Across Europe, myopia rates are rising rapidly, driven by increased screen time and reduced outdoor activity. Researchers predict that approximately half of all school graduates in Europe could be myopic by 2035. 1
The Joint Policy statement recognizes the importance of fostering healthy digital habits, prioritizing outdoor play, and supporting child-friendly learning environments. It calls for coordinated efforts to promote prevention, early intervention, and equitable access to care.
Santen endorses and supports this initiative to realize a society where all children can enjoy healthy vison and opportunities or growth.
