Santen Announces the Transfer of Advanced Vision Science, Inc.
October 2, 2026 - Osaka, Japan – Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter Santen) today announced the transfer of all outstanding shares of its wholly owned subsidiary, Advanced Vision Science, Inc. (California, US; hereinafter AVS), to SpyGlass Pharma, Inc. (head office: California, US; hereinafter SpyGlass), a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing innovative ophthalmic healthcare solutions.
AVS is a medical device company specializing in the development, manufacturing and sales of ophthalmic medical devices including intraocular lenses (IOLs) and lens materials. This transaction is part of Santen’s ongoing efforts to further optimize its business portfolio. Santen remains committed to addressing unmet medical needs in ophthalmology through innovative products and services. The transaction also enables SpyGlass to enhance its manufacturing capabilities and support the continued development of its ophthalmic product portfolio.
Santen will continue IOL business in Japan, with AVS continuing to serve as its exclusive manufacturer and supplier of several types of IOLs.
